Transgenders

The most rewarding success case is treating my clients who are transgender. This journey has been a privilege to experience and make a difference in someone’s life. A gift that I truly treasure.

My intention is to explain the role that a hair removal specialist takes to change someone’s life of anxiety, depression and often suicidal thoughts, to one that brings hope, new meaning to life and a feeling of being the person they truly are.

What is the meaning of transgender?

  • Someone who has a compulsive drive to behave, live and pass in the role of the opposite biological gender.
  • It is not a sexual issue it is a gender issue.
  • Sexual issues surround one’s preference for a sexual partner or other physical desires.
  • Gender issues, have to do with classification by anatomic sex and individuals’ identification with that sex.
  • Transgender is linked between genetic, biological and chemical circumstances.
  • Transgenders are unhappy and do not feel good about the gender assigned to them at birth. The psychiatric term for this is “gender dysphoria”.

Transgenders fears of being “read”

This is an expression used by transgenders to describe the situation where other people realize that they do not belong to the gender that they are trying to present. For the transgender this can be tragic since it leaves them open to ridicule and scorn.

Often cross-dressing or wearing female clothing leaves them confined to their residence. Excess facial hair and a deep voice can make them fearful of being “read”.

Words of Wisdom from the Expert

Hair removal is the first step taken on the long journey to feeling like the person they were meant to be. Psychological evaluation and hormone therapy are necessary before one can be accepted for the final step of surgical procedures and full transformation. This all takes time and money.

What technology can we use?

As a hair removal expert with over 40 years of experience dealing with every kind of case, medical concerns are the reasons why stimulated hair growth occurs. There is still no case that cannot achieve 100% permanent hair removal. The most important first step is to provide a very comprehensive assessment. By taking a full case history you understand the clients concerns and possible reasons why the hair bothers the client, how and when it started, what temporary methods or professional treatments have been previously tried so that you can understand and possibly provide reasons of why they did not work. Once you fully understand then you must be able to provide options of what technology or technologies you can use to progress with this individual to achieve their goal. (a comprehensive consultation should take 45 – 60 minutes.)

In most cases you should be able to provide laser treatments and maximize permanent hair reduction, then complete all of your cases with electrolysis to achieve 100% permanent hair removal.

Following the consultation, you must provide your client with a specific timeline and budget that can be implemented, so that when you start the case you can finish the case. Yes, this will take time but by using lasers together with electrolysis in the long run it will cost a lot less money and time for your client.

With my experience you should be able to achieve your goal within a 3 to 4-year period resulting in no regrowth and hair free for the rest of their life as a transgender client. The only reason we cannot speed up this process is due to the hair growth cycle that controls how quickly hair removal treatments can be achieved.

If you do not feel you have the ability to treat a transgender client then please refer them to someone that can as it does change someone’s life and they will always be thankful to you.
